Beginning at the Patterdale Hotel, the route climbs to St Sunday Crag before continuing via Cofa Pike to the summit of Fairfield, with expansive views along the way. We then descend into Grisedale and follow the valley back to Patterdale.
The full route is approximately 15 km (9 miles) with around 970 m (3,150 ft) of ascent, over classic Lake District fell terrain. As it’s still very much winter in the fells, conditions can be challenging, so please come well prepared. The route may be shortened on the day depending on weather, ground conditions, or the group.

Together Outdoors is a friendly, informal group that meets socially for outdoor activities — mainly walking and hiking. The organisers are not qualified outdoor leaders, and therefore anyone attending a group walk/hike takes responsibility for their own safety.
Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Please pay attention to the walk description and details in advance so that you’re aware of the distance, ascent and terrain involved.
Please ensure you come equipped with appropriate clothing and footwear, suitable for harsh and changeable weather conditions.
