A wonderful walk from Mardale Head up to Small Water tarn for some picturesque picnicking and paddling. Those who want to extend their walk have the option of heading up Nan Bield Pass and on to Harter Fell. The terrain isn’t rough and the views back towards Haweswater are excellent — especially in the amazing weather that we’re bound to be enjoying! Possible refreshment stop at the Haweswater Hotel on the way back.
Bring a picnic and swim wear (if you fancy a dip).
Car sharing is recommended as parking fills up quickly at Mardale Head.
